Visit of the museum

Peggy Guggenheim was a unique character. Rich and unconventional she shocked the conformist society when she first settled in Venice in 1949. She had fallen in love with the city one year before when displaying her collection at the Biennale Art Exhibition.

The artworks she selected represent a very personal vision of the intensely creative production achieved in Europe before and during World War II and of the early New York School.

Inside her house-museum we can admire masterpieces of her favourite artists, Picasso, Max Ernst, Pollock, Calder. They have all left a considerable mark in the art history of the 20th century.
